Meet at: Fort Watauga

Join Seasonal Interpreter Matthew Simerly in Fort Watauga and travel back in time when the land west of the Appalachian Mountains was unmapped to Europeans! Meet with the men that explored this vast stretch of land. Learn why these "Long Hunters" would go into the unknown for months at a time, and what they brought with them to keep themselves alive. This program is intended for ages 12 and up and will last about 45 minutes. In the event of inclement weather, the program will be held in the museum located in the Visitor Center.
